Domain of Schattenjager Forum
18th November 1998
Well, just before I head off for my first out of the country holiday in
8 years, I want you guys to play around with something I have installed:
Voodoo Forums
Unbelievable as it might sound, I am still working on it (including that link up
there which has said "Case Files" for nearly 2 years!
Anyway it is functional, and has a whole load of features, plus is quite easy
to customise.
Any suggestions you might have to make it even better will be read and (SHOCK)
actually implemented!
As with any other forum, try to be civil to one another. The usage of the forum
should be considered as a privilege, not a right, and can quite easily be denied
to those who abuse it. So don't.

Anyway, talk to you people later.
1998 Gabriel Knight Fan Fiction Contest
3rd September 1998
Hello to all of you who vaguely remember me. In case you wondered why the lack
of news updates for a while, what with the sterling efforts of Carlos'
Schattenjager.com (formerly St. George's
Website) and the more recent addition to the GK internet-universe, SIDNEY, a great site created
and maintained by Nico Sels & Christy Lein. Anyway, lets move on...
Nico and Christy are hosting a new
fan fiction contest. Details are available from their web site.
There are some cracking stories to be read, so everyone should visit Sidney to get upto speed on
the details of what you should do.
Other things that fell into my inbox this week, include a mail from Heath about the selling off of GK2 Memorabilia! Go buy the
castle!
IRC chats are occuring weekly now, so get all the information from Sidney's
"Calling Conclave" section (neat
title!) and join in the fun. Sometimes we're even on-topic!
#Gabriel_Knight : Success!
21st May 1998
Hi to all those who were able to make the chat. It was a good session
with a good turnout by both web site owners, web site users, and the casual
observer.
In what turned out to be a flurry of activity (including a very last minute
improvised online fanfic) the IRC session held last Saturday turned into a
very friendly forum of chat of all manner of subjects.
I have a copy of the majority of the logs taken that I made of that session
available to read online, for those interested. Or just
download the zip containing the IRC logs.
When there is another scheduled, I will advertise it here (as will most of
the other GK site webmasters/webmistresses.
Carlos' GK Hits the Bigtime!
5th May 1998
I am sure that many of you out there have visited Carlos' fantastic GK site, it is the place
to go for the latest news, as the guy seems to have cloned himself and updates his site almost hourly!
St George's Website has now become an Allgames affiliate, with the added advantages of increased server resources.
All the best matey, you've done us all proud!
Cendant, Gamecenter GK3, Sierra Studios, Sex!
21st April 1998
Some of you may have read about the massive drop in share price that recently happened to Sierra's parent company,
Cendant. How this will affect any of the operations by Sierra is uncertain (and any of the other game houses under the same company umbrella such as Blizzard, makers of the stonking Diablo and Starcraft).
In the usenet group comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.adventure, there is quite a long thread discussing it (entitled "Sierra is going down!"), but the general consensus over there seems to be that there will be no impact over the operations of any of the subsidiary companies.
In GK related news, there has been a good GK feature made available on Gamecenter
covering lots of new pictures of the game (including Grace), and how the develpoment is going. Its a nice article, so
you should definately check it out.
Of particular interest are the details of the minimum specifications required to actually run the game, specifically a P133 with 32mb of ram. Of course regular readers of this site will already have read my predictions on this last year.
Also, Sierra recently announced details of their groovy sounding Sierra Studios, it promises to
create some of the greatest games to be seen on the PC. Again, Gamecenter have the scoop and exclusive game screenshots of the latest titles in their Underground section (dated April 17th).
Cindy Vanous (one time web mistress of Sierra's web site) has contributed to an article about whether the use of Sex in games is getting out of control, or whether it is all harmless. There are some interesting opinions, which you should try to read if you can. Its been around for a while, but I only just noticed it!
New GK Stuff
17th April 1998
I can't determine the exact date, but some new bits and pieces have been added to the GK3 site, including new biographies (including recently promoted Sierra webmaster Adam D. Bormann), and some reworked aesthetics on the site in general...
New GK Stuff
10th March 1998
Miss me? Sorry for the lack of updates, but Livewire Pro coupled with Informix databases can be quite challenging at times. That, and being heavily involved in getting my company's new web site up and running (and fixing the myriad of problems which sprout from nowhere). Like the rendered spinny things? I did those! among other things...
ANYWAY, here some new news and stuff...
- Thanks to Laura Lee for notifying me of her review contained on ComputorEdge Online. Her article goes in-depth to describe Peter Lucas's involvement in Gabriel knight 2 (As "Von Glower"), including what is actually involved in studying the lines behind such a mammoth project. Its a very fine interview, which you should go and read if you haven't already.
- Sierra's own GK3 site has been updated with new bits and pieces, including new team biographies, what Gabe will actually be looking like, and a team development photo!
Superb!

Thats that. More when I have it. If you are looking to obtain the very finest GK news on the internet at the moment, then I would suggest that you make a quick step over to Carlos's superb GK site. You will not be disappointed. But then, if you are a true GK fan, you will already know that!
Exclusive GK3 Preview
15th January 1998
Found this on Voodoo Extreme, a fine 3D gaming resource. Computer Games Online contains new screenshots of some unknown characters. Probably of most interest will be the one of the woman leaning against the tour bus. Alternatively, you can view them in the GK3 gallery.
GK3 - Plot Information
14th January 1998
Oh dear! It appears that PC Gamer have reported a lot more than what they should have, and consequently did something slightly short of giving away beta copies of GK3 off their cover CD
Here is the information that Sierra would like people to know at present:
The town in France is called Rennes-le-Château
The tourist group that Mosely is a part of are treasure hunters.
In 1880 a poor parish priest arrived to take over the town's decaying
church. In 1891, during restoration of the church, he found beneath the
altar stone parchment scrolls seald in wooden cases. Much of the text
was Latin excerpts from the New Testament, many passages were
incomprehensible, written in a cipher so cryptic and complex that even
modern scholarship has been unable to crack the code. When the priest
showed them to various church authorities, he was suddenly contacted
by members of several secret occult societies. From the Louvre, he
obtained paintings of the surrounding areas, showing tombs and other
sites not far from the church. When the locations are connected on a
map, they form a Pentagram.
Jane Jensen comments on vampires and their interest in our favorite
schattenjäger:
"My vampires, though, were also a bit like alchemists,
always searching for superior, powerful bloodlines which
would increase their power. And as we learned in the first
two games, Gabriel's got some pretty aristocratic blood
flowing in his veins."
Up to 500 polygons for a single face!

For regular readers of these pages, they will already know that Rennes-le-Château was heavily hinted
at way back in August last year. Just thought that I would mention it!
GK3 - Cast Info & More...
11th December 1997
There have been a lot of new changes made on the GK3 site, so take a deep breath...
Issue 2 of the "Schattenjager Diaries" has been sent out with lots of juicy info on who will be playing who (bar Gabriel himself. A special announcement will be made at a later date). They are as follows:
- Charity James (Grace Nakamura) - According to the email "She fit Grace like a glove!". Previous outings include voice overs in "Space Jam" and "Anastasia". So can we expect a virtual equivalent of someone who bulges their eyes when they are stressing a point?

- David A. Thomas (Detective Mosely) - "Not the Wendy's founder, or the McKenzie Brother".
- Samantha Eggar (Lady Howard) - "Wow, what a voice!". An extensive working background in the film and TV industry, spanning over 35 years. Has used her talents in many productions including "Hercules", "The Phantom", "The Legend of Prince Valiant", and much much more.
- Joe Lala (Victorio Buchelli) - "A hot-blooded Sicilian!"
- Billy West (Emilio Baza) - "You fat, bloated eeediot!". You may know him from "Extreme Ghostbusters", "Space Jam", "Jumanji (TAS)", and the stupendous "Ren & Stimpy" (who voices both of the titular characters).
- Rene Auberjonois - "The shapechanging star of "Star Trek: Deep Space 9". How cool is that!

- Susan Silo - An extensive voice-over background, she also played "Madame Cazanoux" in GK1.
- David Warner - Quite possibly the most distinguished of this list so far, with over 100 films and tv appearances spanning everything from Sci-Fi, Horror, Animation, Fantasy, and more Horror.
- Phillipe Bergeron - "Watch for him in the new Godzilla!"
- Richard Doyle - "Straight from the cast of Air Force One!"
- Carolyn Seymour - "She and Samantha make a unique team!". Her previous credits include starring in "Congo", and the old British "Steptoe & Son" films made in the early 70's.
- Gregg Berger - "Who knows what secrets his character is guarding?". All I have to say is that this is the same guy who voices "Cornfed" in the fantabulous "Duckman". How cool is that, again!

- Jennifer Hale - "She had the sound engineers panting!". Well, in addition to whatever talents she already posesses, she has also used her voice in many other animated series, including "Spiderman", "Jonny Quest", and "The Tick".
A brand new "Gabe's Fave" going to none other than Kenn Stollery-Jones' ultra cool Mosely website. Well done!

It is great to see so many high profile names being acquired in the production of this latest GK title. It is obvious that a great deal of effort has gone in to securing who will be voicing who in this game, and the results should be superb.
